AI/AX
Our approach to an enlightened architectural experience, is inspired by UI/UX design for digital environments. UX design refers to User Experience design, while UI design stands for User Interface design. Similarly we feel the architectural process can be separated into AI and AX design, despite being very integral to each other, they each have their own qualities.
At a basic level, the Architecture Interface (AI) is the layout, aesthetics and branding of a space that people interact within a building. A good architecture interface design makes the building enjoyable and intuitive for people to use. Architectural Experience (AX), is rooted in functionality, as well as the process behind designing buildings that provide a seamless experience for the people who use them. This includes the process of working with the architect. Both AI and AX need to more than just great individually, it is only when they blend together seamlessly does the building become great!

As an architect with fifteen years of experience I have tremendous pride for the profession and continually strive to improve. From my time spent at school to the present I have looked for ways to be involved, assume leadership positions, and participate in industry organizations. I am passionate about technology within architecture and educating the public about design.
Throughout my experience the most important thing I have learned, is that there is always more to learn when it comes to field of architecture. Architecture is a profession that can be equally rewarding as it is humbling. I firmly believe in the power of design to resonate with people beyond just architects. I feel the best buildings inspire both the architect and everyday person a like. At the core of a good design solution is the story. The stronger we can communicate this, the more effective our design can be. It is important for architects to rely on each other and foster a strong reliance on each other for knowledge. For this reason I actively participate in AIA committees as well as look for opportunities to partner with the larger development and engineering community.
Outside of architecture, my biggest joy is adventuring with my wife, 2 daughters and dog. My personal motto is “the road less traveled”, as I always am looking to be challenged physically and mentally.

A Colorado Native that has grown up all over the United States, design stood out to me from an early age. From neighborhood suburbs and cities across the midwest to the first colonized towns in Virginia, I have always had an admiration for different styles architecture. Whether it be homes and schools, or town centers with lots of history, architects have been shaping how we see and interact with the world. As architects and designers, we have a responsibility to set standards in order to shape the built environment for the better. Shaping communities is vastly rewarding as we create spaces for all people to benefit from, grow and learn in, which ultimately helps create memories to last a lifetime. The world is constantly evolving so staying current on industry standards, trends and technologies is mightily important, so that we do not fall behind and lose our purpose. Outside of architecture, I come from a very close family and value anytime that I get to spend with them. I enjoy all things that Colorado has to offer: from camping, hiking or golfing in the summer, to skiing in the winter. Sports takes up the majority of my nights and weekends, especially when it comes to the Avalanche, Broncos and CU Buffs. When able to, I also enjoy touring the state and trying all the different microbreweries that Colorado has to offer.
